Chambers draws top recognition from Big Seven

His basketball coaching career ended before the Oak Ridge Boys’ William Lee Golden likely had his last good haircut, but Elizabethton resident Bobby Chambers is far from a forgotten man.

Case in point: Just last month, Chambers received the Big Seven Conference’s 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award.

“It was quite an honor, I tell you,” Chambers, who left the profession in 1983, said this week. “I was really surprised and excited both.”
