Betty Jo Taylor Roten

Betty Jo Taylor Roten, 84, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014, at Pine Ridge Care Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late William E. and Flara Smith Taylor.
Mrs. Roten had been employed at Hillview Health Center for several years, where she served as a sitter. She was also a homemaker.
Mrs. Roten was a member of Hunter Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William D. “Bill” Roten, May 23, 2009, and by one brother and five sisters.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and William Patrick Beahm and Martha and Gary W. Buck; a grandson, Joshua William Buck and his special girlfriend Tia; two sisters, Margaret T. Carver and Mildred Carriger; several nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Bobbi and Kenneth Fritts and Randy and Aaron Glover.
Funeral services for Mrs. Roten will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, April 15, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Doug Hartley and the Rev. Eric Heaton officiating. Music will be provided by the Hunter Memorial Baptist Church Choir. Graveside services and interment will be at Mountain Home National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, with the Rev. James Hawk officiating. Active pallbearers will be Joshua Buck, Shane Isaacs, Neil Hartley, Jim Hartley, Tim Buck, Doug Colbaugh, Justin Colbaugh and Gary Wallace. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Pine Ridge Nursing Staff for the wonderful care our mother received. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Roten to the Building Fund of Hunter Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at her residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday to go to the cemetery.
