Mary Ellen Gouge Peoples

WARE SHOALS, S.C. – Mary Ellen Gouge Peoples, widow of Dr. Don Lester Peoples, of 32 E. Summit Drive, died Monday, May 26, 2014, at Hospice of the Piedmont in Greenwood.
Born in Johnson City, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Robert Rexter and Carrie Pearl Tittle Gouge. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ware Shoals United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her children, Debbie P. Davis and husband Grady of Ware Shoals’ James C. “Jimmy” Peoples and wife Susan of Johnson City; and Cindy P. Barnhardt and husband Barry of Kannapolis, N.C.; a sister, Hazel Gouge of Elizabethton, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by three brothers, Carl, Billy, and Rory Gouge.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Ware Shoals United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tina Thomas and the Rev. Gail Summey officiating. Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, in Roselawn Memory Gardens in Johnson City.
Honorary escort will be members of the Morning Circle of the Ware Shoals United Methodist Church and members of the Tuesday Morning Bridge Club.
