Jerry Dalton “Bubba” Potter Jr.

We lost a son, brother, best friend and a great young man, and the world gained a guardian angel. Jerry Dalton “Bubba” Potter Jr., 17, of Roan Mountain, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 29, 2014, in Hampton. Jerry was the son of Jerry Potter and Johnnie Russ. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles Potter; his grandmother, Kim Taylor; and an aunt, Melissa McMahan.
Jerry was a student at Hampton High School, where he was studying criminal justice. He loved dirt bikes and 4-wheelers and being with his friends.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his mother, Johnnie Guinn Russ, Elizabethton; his father, Jerry Eugene Potter and his fiancée, Novella Jones, Roan Mountain; his sisters, Erica Potter, Roan Mountain, Shawna Russ, Danielle Russ and Allison Sneed, all of Virginia; his brothers, Cody Potter, Roan Mountain, and A.J. Russ, of Virginia; his grandparents, Richard and Barbara Guinn, Roan Mountain, Joyce Potter, Roan Mountain, and Terry Taylor, Elizabethton; his aunts and uncles, Charlie and Sarina Potter, Roan Mountain, Scotty and Tammy Potter, Roan Mountain, Jeff McMahan, Roan Mountain, Heather Taylor, Elizabethton, Sue Ann Guinn, Terry Guinn and Derrick Guinn, all of Roan Mountain; a nephew, James “Bubba” Klapp; and many cousins. Special love to the many people who had a hand in raising such an amazing man.
A service to celebrate the life of Jerry “Bubba” Potter Jr. will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Rev. Jim Storie officiating. Special music will be provided by the Cooke family. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 5, in the McMahan Cemetery, McMahan-Gibb Road, Roan Mountain, Tenn. Active pallbearers will be Kane Hobbs, Dalton Carden, Brandon Thompson, Daniel Morris, Cody Potter, Charlie Potter, Randy Campbell and Bart Irick. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Holsclaw and Bradley Mizzell. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, at 9:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
