Cassandra Anderson

Cassandra Anderson, 69, of Johnson City, died Sunday afternoon, June 8, 2014, at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was a native of Memphis, Tenn., and the daughter of the late Leon and Cletius Sparks Carpenter.
Cassandra was well known as a talented artist in northeast Tennessee. Early in her career she did paintings in water colors. In more recent years she did paintings in collage figures and charcoal. Her work had been selected to be shown in the Tennessee Arts and Crafts show in Nashville.
She was a former winner of Best of Show in the Highlands Art Festival in Abingdon. For many years she was a member of the Watauga Arts Council. She was a member of the Bookbinders Book Club.
Cassandra was a lover of animals, flowers and plants. She often took in animals so they would have a home. She was always gracious to anyone she met.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Jim Anderson, of the home, and a sister and brother, Celina and Eddie Carpenter of Beckley, W.Va.
There will be a gathering of friends to celebrate and remember Cassandra’s life from 2:30 until 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, at Tetrick Funeral Home. Food for her friends in attendance will be served at the gathering. Those who wish to make donations in memory of Cassandra may donate to the Shepherds Inn, 119 West F.
