It wasn’t your typical accident with injuries: Valley Forge Elementary was damaged in a hit-and-run accident Sunday morning.
According to an accident report from the Carter County Sheriff’s Department, a vehicle hit the fence near the school and the school building, which damaged the electrical line going into the school.
The report says Valley Forge custodian Tim Lyons estimated the damage from the accident to be close to $500.
A neighbor who lives near the school reported witnessing the incident and told authorities a white, full-size four-door truck, possibly a Dodge, backed up to the dumpsters at the school.
The neighbor then reported hearing a loud noise and “noticed the truck had hit the school building.”
The report said the neighbor saw three white females in the truck get out of the vehicle, pick up the fence post that had been run over, put the post in the back of the truck and leave the scene.
