Football is a game of X’s and O’s, but when Elizabethton hosts Science Hill on Friday night at Dave Rider Field, each team hopes that X’s can provide its O.

Each team enjoys a stable of X-factors on the offensive end, but two in particular could sway the outcome of the game.

“They’ve got an X-factor in McGue, we’ve got the X-factor in Ethan Thomas,” Elizabethton head coach Shawn Witten said. “When you play us you fear that anytime Ethan Thomas gets the ball or Armstrong or Olds, that they’re going to score and that’s what you fear when you get McGue and White and Elijah Mathes. Every time they get it, there is a threat to score every play.”
