One of the biggest football games in the state took place at Brown-Childress Stadium on Aug. 29, and it shared the spotlight with the state’s biggest tennis star.

Elizabethton’s Danielle Vines, the 2013 Class A/AA state girls singles champion, was honored at halftime of the Cyclones’ 56-34 defeat to Science Hill and given a state championship ring.

Vines trounced the competition in the state tournament, losing only two games in three matches en route to the championship.
