A Mountain City man was arrested Monday after police reported finding him with a vehicle that was reported stolen from a hospital.
Quincy Edward Roark, 47, 430 Furnace Creek Road, Mountain City, was arrested Monday by officers of the Elizabethton Police Department on a warrant charging him with theft of a motor vehicle over $1,000.
The warrant for Roark’s arrest was taken out by EPD Investigator David Peters, who said the investigation began on Sept. 16 when a woman reported her vehicle stolen from the parking lot of Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
According to the warrant, a surveillance video showed a male subject entering the woman’s car and driving away at approximately 2:15 p.m.
Peters said on Sept. 17 Investigator Shawn Brown with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department contacted Carter County 911 and reported he had found the vehicle and the person who was in possession of it. According to the warrant, Brown was assisting officers of the Johnson City Police Department when he came in contact with the vehicle and the driver, who was identified as Roark.
“After receiving this information I made contact with Quincy Roark at the Washington County Detention Center on Sept. 19 and he admitted to taking the car from the parking lot at Sycamore Shoals Hospital,” Peters said.
