An Elizabethton woman is facing charges after police say her employer caught the woman skimming money from a cash register.
Elizabethton Police Department Officer Dustin Johnson issued a criminal summons to Susan Donnelly, 38, 107 Archway Court, Elizabethton, charging her with two counts of theft-embezzlement.
According to a police report, Johnson answered a call to Wal-Mart Friday afternoon, and upon his arrival, he spoke with an employee with Wal-Mart’s loss prevention team who reported that he saw Donnelly on video surveillance steal $100 from a cash register on two separate occasions — the first on Sept. 20 and the second on Oct. 3.
The man said when he spoke with Donnelly about the incidents, she provided a written statement admitting to the thefts. Johnson said he obtained a copy of the statement to include with his report.
Johnson said he then spoke with Donnelly and issued her a criminal summons on the two charges. She is scheduled to appear in Carter County General Sessions Court Nov. 25.
