Phillip Dean Shaffer Sr.

Phillip Dean Shaffer Sr., 74, of Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at the residence of a son, Mark Shaffer.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Andrew Earl and Virgie Nave Shaffer.
Mr. Shaffer was a 1958 graduate of Elizabethton High School and was a carpenter. He was a member of the Old Horseshoe Free Will Baptist Church. He loved to play the guitar and sing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sally Oaks Shaffer.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Miles Sheets; two sons, John Mark Shaffer and wife Debbie and Phillip Dean Shaffer Jr. and wife Robin, all of Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Sara, John and Chris; four great-grandchildren, Elijah, Kelsie, Tyler and MaKinnzie; and three sisters, Olive Case, Delores Heaton and Ruby Vance.
Graveside services for Mr. Shaffer will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, October 24, in the Pierce Cemetery (Siam Community) with the Rev. Steve Williams officiating. Interment will follow the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, prior to the graveside service. Condolences may be e-mailed to mfc@chartertn.net.
