Thankful for rewarding profession

Today I write my third Thanksgiving column for the Elizabethton Star, and this year I am probably the most thankful and grateful for being able to cover sports in this area and for having the opportunity to report more than the score.

I have said this before, but there is no day on the calendar I look forward to than the last Thursday in November — which also signals the end of fall. True, I enjoy watching football and Elizabethton’s own Jason Witten every year, and there are other things like the big feast my family prepares that we eat at 4 pm and then eat the leftovers for four days.

Most of all though, Thanksgiving as it was intended until commercialism for the next holiday dampened it, was to thank God for which everything he has blessed us
