Irene Ayers Roberson

Irene Ayers Roberson, 95, of Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at the residence of her daughter.
A native of Yancey County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late C.C. and Julia Webb Ayers. She had lived in Tennessee for a number of years.
Ms. Roberson was a graduate of Claremont High School in Green Mountain, N.C. She was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. Her ministry in life was helping other people. She enjoyed reading.
Ms. Roberson was a member of Valley Forge House of Prayer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Ray Roberson; five brothers, Luther, Edison, Willie, Clell and Ford Ayers; and four sisters, Birdie Rice, Myrtle Canipe, Opal Crooke and Carrie Tilley.
Survivors include her daughter, Roseanna Lowe and special friend, Lonnie, Elizabethton; a son, Gary Roberson, Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Donna Kay Gobble, Neil Tommy Roberson and Larry Gobble; a great-granddaughter, Laci Rose Gobble; her special nieces and nephews; a special sister-in-law, Pearl Ayers; and her special friends, Audrey Greer, Mary Gay McKinney, Connie Harrold, Jeff Gobble and Marilyn and Gary Ward.
Funeral services for Irene Ayers Roberson will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 21, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Gary Ward and the Rev. Allen Simerly officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Larry Gobble, Jeff Gobble, Lonnie Lowe, Tommy Roberson, Earl McKinney and Dave Gobble. The family will receive friends from noon Sunday until the service hour. Friends may also call at the residence of her daughter.
