Hamptons troubles came in the form of Boone’s Sydney Pearce, who towered over the competition as she swatted down shots all night.

“She has being doing that consistently,” Daniel Boone head coach Travis Mains said about Pearce’ blocking. “The last six or seven games she has really came on, and she anchors our defense. It is really hard to score inside if she is that active.”

The Blazers were led by Jaclyn Jenkins, who recorded 16 points. She was followed up by Pearce, who had 14.

It seems that Hampton could not find momentum at the right time. After being down 11-5 after the first quarter, the Lady Bulldogs went toe-to-toe with the Lady Blazers in the second quarter, out scoring Daniel Boone 14-13. The two teams went to the locker room with the score set at 24-18 in favor of the Lady Blazers.

Daniel Boone really picked up steam in the third as they went on a 16-2 run, with Pearce putting up the first six points of the run. The scoring frenzy put the Lady Trailblazers up 43-25 going into the fourth.

In the fourth the Lady Dogs came alive as they out scored Daniel Boone 17-9, but the effort came too late as the Lady Blazers finished out the game ahead 52-44.

The Lady ’Dogs were led in scoring by Alexus Grubbs, who provided 12 points. Teammate Shyanne Tuelle came in with 10 points for the night.

“Well, we went back to how we were the first of the year, offensively,” Hampton head coach Bud Hazelwood said. “We did not rotate in the zone, and ended up going man-to-man. We played pretty good in man-to-man. The only thing we can take out of this is we didn’t quit.”
