Tanya Jean Cummings Dykes

Tanya Jean Cummings Dykes, 44, of Elizabethton, passed away Friday, January 23, 2015, at the residence of her mother, Janice Colbaugh, after a three-year battle with cancer.
Tanya was a native of Newport, N.H., but had lived in Elizabethton since 1991. She was a graduate of Newport High School, Newport. Until her illness she was employed at QEP, formerly Harris-Tarkett of Johnson City.
Tanya was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. She loved sewing and designing costumes and clothing.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Marion Cummings and Cecil Dodge.
Survivors include her children, Taylor and Teri Dykes, the loves of her life; her father, John H. Cummings Jr. and wife Barbara; her mother, Janice Dodge Colbaugh; her brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Karen Cummings; her grandmother, Jean B. Dodge; her step-brother, John Colbaugh and wife Tina; a step-sister, Julie Thornton and husband Matt; two step-sisters, Tammy and Kerry Barton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A service to celebrate the life of Tanya Cummings Dykes will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, January 26, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Father Harry Shaefer and the Rev. Ed Talley officiating. Music will be provided by John Colbaugh. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the Amedisys Hospice Team, Dr. Patrick MacMillan and the staff of ETSU Physicians, doctors of the Regional Cancer Center, the staff of Johnson City Medical Center, the support of her co-workers and the many prayers said during her illness.
