Thomas Darrell “Tommy” Hardin, 64, of Elizabethton, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mr. Hardin was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Mary Blevins. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Larry Hardin.
Mr. Hardin had worked as a millwright and was a member of Upper Gap Creek Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working with old cars.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Guinn Hardin, of the home; two daughters, Sherry Street and husband Jason, Johnson City, and Penny Ward and husband Greg, Hampton; two brothers, Scott Hardin, Elizabethton, and David Dula, Hampton; a sister, Linda Guinn, Elizabethton; his grandchildren, Dylan Ward, Ciara Ward, Jonathan Webb and Tatum Street; his great-grandchildren, Addisyn McNeil and Kylie Ward; two sisters-in-law, Jennie Bradley and husband Robbie, and Linda Sommer and husband Joe, all of Elizabethton; and his mother-in-law, Lucy Guinn, Elizabethton.
A service to honor the life of Thomas Darrell “Tommy” Hardin will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 26, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Dale Blevins officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 27, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jason Street, Robbie Bradley, Joe Sommers, Michael Grindstaff, Dylan Ward and Jonathan Webb. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Upper Gap Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home at 9:45 a.m. Friday to go in procession.
