Carolyn Nash Howard, 86, of Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 27, 2015, from the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Knoxville and the daughter of the late Leslie Daniel and Mayme Knight Nash. All Mothers are precious. Carolyn truly exemplified what a loving mother and wife is. She was devoted to Bill, her husband of 67 years. She loved to serve others. One way she did this was by cooking. Everyone loved her cornbread, slaw, dressing and brownies and so much more. She had several serious illnesses during her life, but seemed like the “comeback kid” over and over. She never gave up and never complained. What an example to leave for her whole family! She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her and especially the love of her life, Bill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Newton Jones.
Those left to cherish Carolyn’s memory include her loving husband, William “Bill” Howard; children, Tim Howard and Melissa Thornton and husband Jim; grandchildren, Lauren Colmer and husband Nathan, James Thornton and wife Kelly, and Justin Thornton; great-grandchildren, Lavender, Dorian, Natalia, Jackson and Lily; sister, Maxine Jones; brother, Bill Nash and wife Helen; and the entire Howard family. Several loving nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service to honor the life of Carolyn Howard will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 8, in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City, with Rev. Jim Thornton and Rev. Randy Nash officiating. The family will greet guests to share memories from 2 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home. A committal service will be held at a later date at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.tetrickfuneralhome.com.
Tetrick Funeral & Cremation Services, 3001 Peoples Street, Johnson City, (423) 610-7171, is honored to serve the Howard family.
