Juanita “Connie” Cook

Juanita “Connie” Cook, 84, of Raleigh, N.C., formerly of 544 Big Arm Road, Bluff City, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at her residence, following an extended illness. Juanita was a native of Sullivan County and the daughter of the late Charles Omer “Bill” Denison and Ethel Glover Denison. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “J.C.” Cook Jr.; a brother, Billy Denison; and five half brothers.
Mrs. Cook was a homemaker and a member of Bunker Hill Christian Church, although she grew up in Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and Nana.
Survivors include two daughters, Patti Whitaker and husband Rick, Raleigh, N.C., and Donna Deskins and husband David, Bluff City; two grandsons, James Deskins, Bluff City, and Jason Deskins and wife Ramona, Charlotte, N.C.; three great-granddaughters, Aubrey Deskins and Kaelee Deskins, both of Bluff City, and Hailey Deskins of Massachusetts; and Aubrey and Kaelee’s special mom, Carrie Deskins, Bluff City. Several nieces and nephews also survive, along with three step-granddaughters, Alysa Whitaker-Meyer, Alayne Whitaker and Alyson Whitaker, all of Texas.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Juanita “Connie” Cook will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, May 25, at Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church with Mr. Ernie Depew, minister, and Rev. Jamie Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, prior to the service, or at the residence, 544 Big Arm Road, Bluff City, at anytime. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, in the Sunrise Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be James Deskins and Jason Deskins. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church, 1727 Chinquapin Grove Road, Bluff City, TN 37618.
