After mechanical issues left the Franklin Pool closed for almost a week, swimmers are jumping at the chance to get back in the water.
The visitors to the reopened pool included Claire Forslin, who attended with Girls Inc of Johnson City-Washington County. The group used school buses to bring about 90 girls to a fun day at the pool Tuesday.
Swimmers could enjoy icy refreshments, a kiddy pool and two diving boards.
“The coolest thing I’ve ever seen somebody do off the diving is a gainer,” said Chase Seeley, a lifeguard at the pool. A gainer, as he explained, is a inward front flip that was only successfully performed by three people this year.
The hottest months of the summer are yet to come, hopefully filled with more flips and more fun.
