Teddy D. Greer, 67, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, from Sycamore Shoals Hospital, following a brief illness. Teddy was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Ned and Betty Dugger Greer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ricky and Jerry Greer.
Mr. Greer retired from Gardner Paint Services, where he was employed as a painter for 33 years. He was a member of North Side Baptist Church and liked to fish.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Evelyn Price Greer, of the home; two daughters, Karen Bates and husband Johnny, Elizabethton, and April Bascal, Athens, Tenn.; three sons, Johnny Greer and wife Patti, Piney Flats, Tenn., Christopher Greer, Elizabethton, and Hosea Greer, of the home; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Carolyn Greer, Kathy Greer and Nona Gilbert, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A celebration of life service for Teddy D. Greer will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, July 3, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. John Perkins Jr. and Rev. Mike Dickenson officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Carter County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 134, Elizabethton, TN 37644, in remembrance of Teddy.
