Barbara Lou Dunlap Ray, 64, of Watauga, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was a native of Elizabethton. She was a daughter of the late Bob and Mabel Dunlap.
Barbara was a member of New Hope Church of Christ and she loved her church family very much. She had worked at Gordon’s Fine Furniture Company. One of Barbara’s great joys was going to the races.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Bays.
Survivors include her loving husband, Kenneth Ray; daughter, Teresa Hyatt and her husband Jackie; son, Kenneth Stephen Ray and his wife Kimberly; six grandchildren, Barbara Carr and her husband David, Christina Hyatt and her fiancé Timmy Stanton, Andi Stines and her husband Danny, Alex Ray, Alyssa Ray and Aaron Ray; two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Haley Stines; two half sisters; three half brothers; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Maxine Poarch, Tonette Osborne and her church family.
The family of Barbara Ray will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Saturday, August 1, in the Morris-Baker Dogwood Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. Saturday in the chapel under the direction of Mr. Paul Peer, with special music provided by Sherry Richardson. A committal service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, August 2, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Arvil “Dusty” Constable, Tim Peer, Jerry Whitacker, Charlie Mosier, Dale McCracken and David Kent. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Bradley, Timmy Stanton, Norman Scott, Benny Colbault, James Ray, Chuck Poarch and Jeff Poarch. The minister, family and friends are requested to meet at Morris-Baker by 1:30 p.m. Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.
