Mark Meredith, 53, of Gray, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 26, 2015, at the Baylor Regional Medical Center, Grapevine, Texas. Mark was on his way to California but had stopped in Fort Worth to play golf with some of his friends.
Mark was born March 19, 1962 in Johnson City. He was a 1980 graduate of Happy Valley High School, where he played on the Warriors Basketball & Golf Team; he attended East Tennessee State University and the University of Tennessee. He won the Junior Amateur State Golf Championship award.
Mark was employed as a Sales Consultant with Lexus of Kingsport for the past eight years. He was a member of the Central Community Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, Evan Mark Meredith, Gray; a daughter, Amelia Meredith, Gray; his parents, Carroll and Gail Brooks Meredith, Johnson City; his fiancée, Karen Johnson, her son, Dustin Campbell, and her granddaughter, Karina Campbell; and his aunts and uncles, Sue and Bob McEntee, Big Conoe, Ga., L.B. and Tammy Brooks, Elizabethton, Becky Mangognia, Johnson City, Gary Meredith of North Carolina and Larry Meredith of Arizona. Several cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Mark Meredith will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, October 3, at Memorial Funeral Chapel, Elizabethton, with Mr. Todd Wolfe and Mr. Roland Whittimore, ministers, officiating. The eulogy will be given by Mr. P.J. Johnson, Mr. Kenny Hawkins and Mr. Tom Foster. Music will be provided by Todd and Susie Wolfe. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 4, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Sunday, will be Kenny Hawkins, P.J. Johnson, Don Clark, Rick Meredith, Mark Dugger, Woody Itson, Kirk Hayes and Chuck Finley. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Peterson, Jordon Whitaker, Jeff Peterson, Lewis Whitaker, Craig Brooks, Mark Gray, Jeff Blackburn, L.B. Brooks Jr., Rusty Edens, Dustin Campbell, Doug Taylor, Dr. Bill Wentz, employees of Lexus of Kingsport, his golfing buddies and members of the Happy Valley High School Graduating Class of 1980. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with his family at the residence of his parents. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Sunday to go to the cemetery.
