Holiday Events Calendar for 12/21/2015

There are lots of holiday events coming up in and around Elizabethton in the coming days. Among the events in the area are:
• Now – Jan. 2, 2016 – Speedway in Lights – 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. nightly at Bristol Motor Speedway. Admission to The Pinnacle Speedway in Lights Powered by TVA is $12 for cars Sunday through Thursday and $15 for cars Friday and Saturday. Activity vans are $20 each and buses are $85. The event is open daily from 6-10 p.m., including Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. • Now – Jan 10, 2016 – The Ice Rink at Bristol Motor Speedway presented by HVAC – times vary by date. Cost to skate $5 plus $2 skate rental. If you have your own skates cost is only $5 admission. Group discounts available. Skating sessions are for 1 hour. For more information call 423-989-6924.
• Nov 29 – Jan. 3 – Winterfest Art Show with opening reception Nov. 29 from 1 to 4 p.m. Art work from the Watauga Valley Art League will remain on display during regular park hours throughout the month of December.
• Nov. 29 – Jan. 3 – Lamplight Christmas Wreath Exhibit at Sycamore Shoals State Park. Display will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 1 to 4:30 p.m Sunday. The rooms at the park will be graced with wreaths of all designs and colors hung from old time lamp posts. Wreaths will be made by community civic groups, schools, and individuals. This year’s theme is “A Christmas Story!”
• Saturday, Jan. 2 – Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016 — Old Christmas: Militia Muster at Fort Watauga
Christmas isn’t over yet! European migrants brought Old World holiday traditions to America, from the Dutch Sinterklaas to the Twelve Days of Christmas. Discover the English, German, Scottish and Irish roots of our modern holiday celebrations. Contact the park for detailed schedule. On Saturday events will run from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. On Sunday events will kick off at 10 a.m. and end at 3 p.m.
