Barbara Jean Matherly

Barbara Jean Matherly, 77, Butler, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Dana H. and Ida Blanche Stout Matherly.
Barbara was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce and Roger Matherly, and five sisters, Marie Peradol, Jean Miller, Kay Davis, Nell Cox and Retha Stout.
Survivors include one sister, Mae Pierce, Mosheim, Tenn.; and two brothers, Jay Matherly, Butler, and Clarence Matherly and his wife Pat, Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of her brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Pat Matherly, 130 Honeycutt Private Drive, Johnson City. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Life Care Center for the excellent care that Barbara received during the past five years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Lou Cooter, 415 Washington Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
It was her wish to be cremated, and no services are planned.
Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
