Carl E. Pierce, 81, of Mooresburg, Tenn., passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Carl was born in Virginia to the late Nick and Cora Sproles Pierce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in by five brothers, Irwin Pierce, Nick Pierce Jr., Bobby Pierce, Dewey Pierce and William “Bill” Pierce; one sister, Ruth Pierce McGuire; and an infant son, Michael Edward Pierce.
Mr. Pierce retired from Ford Motor Company in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in the Korean Conflict, was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Hamm and husband Terry, and Teresa Pierce, all of Johnson City; two sons, Ronnie Pierce, Mooresburg, Tenn., and Raymond “Chuck” Pierce of Johnson City; six grandchildren, Michael Pierce, Stephanie Pierce, Katie Pierce, Brandon Pierce, Josh Hamm and Justin Hamm; three great-granddaughters; two sisters, Shirley Hawkins, North Ridgeville, Ohio, and Gwenda Trent, Gray, Tenn.; and one brother, Charles Pierce, Augusta, S.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Pierce will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, in the Chapel of Peace, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Mark Pierce, minister, and Dr. Alan King officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Wednesday. The graveside service will follow in the Ensor Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
