Louie Glen Oliver, 79, Elizabethton, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late James Murray and Cassie Grindstaff Oliver.
Mr. Oliver was a retired employee of the Tennessee Vocational School. He was a member of Simerly Creek Church of God. He was also a member of the Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Shelby Jean McKinney Oliver; two daughters, Janet Blevins, Elizabethton, and Tammy Clark and husband Allen, Hampton; four grandchildren, Misty McCracken and husband Alan, Laura Jo Childress and husband Adam, Jeff Clark and wife Brandy and Kristi Sanders and husband Kevin; his great-grandchildren, Jacob McCracken, Miranda McCracken, Bredgitte Clawson, Brandon Childress, Lexi Clark, Cooper Sanders, Ava and Mia Sanders; and a sister, Ruby Oliver, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside sevices for Mr. Oliver will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in the McKinney Cemetery, Browns Branch Road, Hampton, with the Rev. Mark Street officiating. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Thursday, will be Jeff Clark, Jacob McCracken, Wayne McClain, Bobby McClain, Alan McCracken, Kevin Sanders and Allen Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be Alvin McKinney, Lynn Wright, Theil McCracken, Greg McCracken and Freddie Julian. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. Ahmed Khan. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Thursday. Condolences to the Oliver family may be e-mailed to mfc@chartertn.net.
