Charles R. Swanson

Charles R. Swanson, 53, of Hampton, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness.
A native of Texas, he was the son of the late Norman and Dorothy Bell Tolley Swanson.
Mr. Swanson was an employee of Douglas Dynamics Company. He enjoyed hunting and going to the car show in Elizabethton. He was a member of Harmony Free Will Baptist Church and he especially loved Jesus!
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, David Swanson and Jimmy Swanson.
Survivors include two daughters, Amanda Mills, Unicoi, and Jenny Brummett, Hampton; a grandson, Jakob Mills, Unicoi; three step-sons; a sister, Margaret Mitchem, Elizabethton; special nieces, Catherine Mays and Rachel Mays, and a special nephew, Jacob Mays, all of Elizabethton. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Swanson will be conducted at noon Saturday, April 12, at Harmony Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Brandon Young officiating. Music will be under the direction of the church. Interment will follow the funeral service on Saturday in the Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mike Hughes, David Ault, Troy Pepus, Jim Peters, Luke Mays, Dwayne Mitchem, Travis Largent and Lester Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends at Harmony Free Will Baptist Church on Friday, April 11, from 7 to 9 p.m. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Harmony Free Will Baptist Church, 3405 Gap Creek Road, Hampton, TN 37658 or to Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 449 Browns Branch Road, Hampton, TN 37658.
