Martin Luther Fisher

Martin Luther Fisher, 83, of Elizabethton, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.
A native of Washington County, he was a son of the late John and Clara Bradshaw Fisher.
Mr. Fisher was retired from the United States Army after 25 years of service, receiving the rank of Sgt. 1st Class. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and continued serving his country in the United States Army until his retirement. During that time he served during the Vietnam Era. He was also retired from the Carter County School System as a bus driver.
Mr. Fisher was a lifetime member of the Captain Lynn H. Folsom Post VFW Post No. 2166.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Peters Fisher, who died February 22, 2013; a sister, Helen Fisher Shell; and four brothers, an infant brother, William Fisher, Harry Fisher, Vernon Fisher and Robert Fisher.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Renee Fisher, Newark, Del., and Randy and Connie Fisher, Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a special nephew, Greg Fisher; and two special nieces, Delores McKinney and Sharon Depew.
Graveside services for Mr. Fisher will be conducted at 10:45 a.m. Friday, April 18, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Honors and pallbearers will be provided by the Tennessee National Guard. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery. Condolences to the Fisher family may be e-mailed to mfc@chartertn.net.
