Woman rescued after falling near Laurel Fork Falls

A woman, who reportedly fell about 30 feet near Laurel Fork Falls in the Dennis Cove area was rescued by emergency personnel Wednesday afternoon.
Rescue crews received the call around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday. The call said the woman had suffered a broken leg when she fell 30 feet near the falls, which is a popular destination for hikers.
The dispatcher at the Carter County Sheriff’s Office said crews traveled over two miles by ATVs and then had to hike the other half mile to reach the injured woman. The crew were able to reach the woman about 3:45 p.m.
She received treatment at the scene and was taken to a local hospital.
The dispatcher said he was told the woman had injuries to a arm and leg.
No other information had been released by rescue personnel last evening.
