Budding artists ages 3 months to 5 years who attend the Little Buccaneers Early Childhood Laboratory Program at East Tennessee State University will have their masterpieces showcased at Slocumb Galleries from Monday through Thursday, May 5-8. The galleries are open weekdays from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
The exhibit, “Through the Eyes of Children,” features individual and collective pieces made by the Little Bucs, including painting on canvas and unique paper, sculpture made from clay and other materials, and photography.
A silent auction begins at 8 a.m. on the first day of the art show and continues until a reception from 4-7 p.m. on May 8, when the winning bids will be announced and the new owners may pick up their works of art.
All artworks in the exhibit are available for acquisition. Smaller works may be purchased through donation while the larger, collaborative pieces are up for bid at the silent auction.
Tickets for the reception are $5, but children 12 and under may attend free. All proceeds will benefit the Little Bucs program.
Little Bucs is part of the Center of Excellence in Early Childhood Learning and Development within the Claudius G. Clemmer College of Education. The program serves as a child care facility for the children, ages three months through five years, of ETSU students and adjunct faculty members.
In addition, the facility provides a laboratory and research environment for ETSU education students and faculty.
Slocumb Galleries are located in Ernest C. Ball Hall along Sherrod Drive. Handicapped access and parking spaces are available.
To obtain additional information or purchase tickets, contact Nikki Dolan of Little Bucs at 439-7549 or dolann@etsu.edu. For disability accommodations, call the ETSU Office of Disability Services at 439-8346.
