Georgia Kate Neatherly Osborne

Georgia Kate Neatherly Osborne, age 98, a resident of Greenfield Senior Living, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, TN.
She was born June 27, 1915 in Butler, the daughter of Oliver and Ethel Vaught Neatherly. Her hometown of Butler was taken by TVA and flooded in 1949, creating Watauga Lake. Her home and many buildings were relocated to higher ground in “New” Butler.
Mrs. Osborne attended Watauga Academy. She moved to Oak Ridge in 1944 and was a volunteer at Highland View School and the PTA in the early years of Oak Ridge. She was employed by Yardney Electric Company while living in Rhode Island. She returned to Oak Ridge in 1982 and has resided at Greenfield Senior Living for the past six years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dana W. Osborne, November 12, 1991 and sisters, Ruth York, Ruby Rosenbaum and Helen Morley McKittrick.
She is survived by children, Paul Richard Osborne of Clinton and the Rev. Patricia Reuss and husband, the Rev. Robert Reuss of Oak Ridge; 5 grandchildren, Paula Crawford of Oak Ridge, Sam Osborne of Nashville, Rebecca Reuss of Boston, MA, Eleanor Reuss McKenna of Cranston, RI and Eddie Osborne of Murfreesboro; 4 step-grandchildren, Teresa Graves of Heiskell, Debra Rose and Tina Sparks, of Oak Ridge and Steven Mitchell of Maryville; 11 great- grandchildren and step great- grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and step great- great grandchildren; cousin, Frances Courtner of Butler, TN and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer a sincere thank you to the staff of Greenfield Senior Living, NHC Health Care and Methodist Medical Center for their loving care.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 3 p.m. at St. Stephens Episcopal Church of Oak Ridge with the Rev. Craig Kallio officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service. Family and friends will meet on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park for a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Butler Museum, 123 Babe Curtis Road, Butler, TN 37640. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
