George E. Chambers

George E. Chambers, 76, 1217 Massachusetts Avenue, Unicoi, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Holston Valley Medical Center Hospital following complications arising from injuries sustained in a January car accident.
He was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Bud and Sallie Teague Chambers.
Mr. Chambers attended Unicoi Church of God. He was a member of Unicoi Masonic Lodge #681 F&AM.
Mr. Chambers was a civil war aficionado, and enjoyed traveling and hunting.
Other than his parents, Mr. Chambers was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Christine Byrd Chambers, in 1995; a daughter, Michelle Chambers; and a brother, Bud Chambers.
Survivors include his loving wife of 15 years, Willa Davis Chambers; two daughters, Melissa Cole, and husband, Burl, Unicoi, and Karen Ireson, Kingsport; a son, Michael Chambers, and wife, Karen, Unicoi; a brother, Robert Chambers, and wife, Verna Lee, Roan Mountain; three sisters, Elsie Doty, Betty Street, and husband, Bill, all of Roan Mountain, and Tresa Carrier, Hampton; extended family members, who include three step-daughters, JoAnn Depew, and husband, Wayne, Jonesborough, Debra Doan, and husband, David, and Elizabeth Berry, and husband, George, all of Unicoi. Fourteen grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Chambers will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, in the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Holloway officiating. The Unicoi Masonic Lodge #681 F&AM will administer Masonic Funeral Rites. Pallbearers will be Drew Ireson, Frank Ireson, Alan Clouse, Burl Cole, Robbie Doty, Keith Doty, Ryan Cichowski and Aaron Cichowski. Special music will be provided by Debra Britt, Billie Collins and Bill Etheridge. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the funeral service, between the hours of 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and other times at the residence. The committal service for Mr. Chambers will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 12, in the Woodby Hill Cemetery. Those attending will need to meet at Unicoi Funeral Home by 9:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
