Roy Edward Lewis, 83, of Oakland Park, Fla., formerly of Elizabethton, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014, at Holy Cross Hospital in Oakland Park, Fla.
He was the son of the late Harry and Gillie Clawson Lewis and was born in Johnson County, Tenn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul D. Lewis, Earl Lewis and Cleve Lewis, and three sisters, Nora Lee Bullock, Jean Shepard and Verna Mae Lewis.
Mr. Lewis was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Maryjo “Joey” Lewis, of the home; a son, Michael Lewis, New York, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, on Wednesday, June 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. The graveside service for Mr. Lewis will be conducted on Thursday, June 26, at 10 a.m. in the New Slagle Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Lyons officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
