David Wendell Jones Sr.

David Wendell Jones Sr., 58, of Watauga, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Roane County, Tenn., he was a son of the late Lyndol Dean and Patricia Barnett Jones McKinney. He had lived in Carter County since 1989.
David was a graduate of Oakdale High School, Oakdale Tenn., and attended Roane State College. He was an Area Supervisor for Kentucky Fried Chicken.
David was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Jones, and his step-father, J.C. McKinney.
Survivors include two sons, David W. Jones Jr., Johnson City, and Charles Cody Dean Jones, Watauga; a special daughter, Sarah Dougherty, Elizabethton; his grandsons, Mason David Lee Jones, Mark, Zachary and Kaden Dougherty; a sister, Ruth Ann Jones Tate and husband Hugh Tate, Oakdale, Tenn.; two nieces, Lindsey Jones and Samantha Jones; a nephew, Joseph McKinney; and his heart daughters, Elizabeth Perry and Sarah Truitt.
Funeral services for Mr. Jones will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, at East Side Christian Church with Mr. Randal Johnson and Rev. Harold Mains officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at East Side Christian Church. Active pallbearers will be David Jones, Cody Jones, Hugh Tate, Daniel Dougherty, Nathan Ward, Aaron Moore, Sarah Truitt and Daniel Bishop. There will also be another service at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Piney Baptist Church, Oakdale, Tenn., with the Rev. Charles Kelly officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Piney Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Piney Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
