Ralph “Doc” Emmert

Ralph “Doc” Emmert, 85, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at his residence.
A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Frank and Juanita Mottern Emmert.
“Doc” retired as a shipping clerk from North American Rayon Corporation. He was a member of Big Springs Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
“Doc” loved playing golf and had been a Little League coach and an umpire for high school and college games.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Malone Emmert; a granddaughter, Becky Emmert; two sisters, Florence Woods and Louise Collins; and two brothers, Curtis Emmert and James Emmert.
Survivors include three sons, Denny “Gov” Emmert and his friend Pam Kabool, Benny Emmert and Terry Emmert and wife Risha, all of Elizabethton, and grandson, Shane Emmert and wife Kim and great-grandchildren, Rylee and P.J. Emmert. Special friends, Christine Eller, Vica Hinkle, Marion Campbell, June Taylor, Gene Campbell, Billy Joe Simmons, Charlie Bayless, Jane Emmert, Debbie Parrott, Vernon Hardin, Rev. Bobby Stout, Jeff Humphreys, Benny Pierce, Clay Bailey, Joe Taylor, Gene Oaks, Don McKeehan, David Pinckard, Dr. Thompson, Frank Kerr, John Crockett, Herman Rollen, Louie Hopkins, Tommy Horton, David Ryder, Jim Perkins and his church family also survive. The late Pee Wee McKinney was another very special friend.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Emmert will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Pastor Glen Layfield officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow the funeral service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Terry Emmert, Benny Emmert, Denny Emmert, Shane Emmert, John David Malone and Mike McKinney. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Drs.
