It’s almost time to celebrate the “town that wouldn’t drown.”
The Butler Ruritans are now making preparations for the 2014 Old Butler Days.
The annual festival will be held on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 8 and 9, at Babe Curtis Park at the end of McQueen Street in Butler. The festival will be from 3 to 10 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday.
The event will feature local musicians, vendors, games, rides, an auction and door prizes. There will be no charge for parking or participating in the festivities.
Vendors wanting to participate in the Old Butler Days Celebration should register by Aug. 1. The fee for both days will be $25. For more information, contact Nioka Markland at 768-3177 or 957-0480.
Security will be available for tents that are left overnight.
On Aug. 9, the club will host the annual Old Butler Poker Run at 11 a.m.
The ride will be about 120 miles, and entry for each person will be $25.
Participants are welcome to bring road-ready bikes or side-by-sides. Competitors will meet at the museum, and prizes will be awarded at the end of the run.
For information about the Poker Run, call Deana Shoun at 768-2013 or 957-0509.
