Charles Isaiah Davis

HICKORY, N.C. — Charles Isaiah Davis, 70, of Hickory, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Born on December 9, 1943 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late George and Ruth Buchanan Davis. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and friend to all who knew him.
Charles was an avid reader, had a passion for gardening and taking care of his yard. He worked for Southern Furniture Hardware for 18 years, and was loved and cared about by the employees.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Glen Kelly Davis and Fred Davis; sisters, Louise Davis Frasier and Betty Jean Davis Elderth; and a very special aunt, Etta Buchanan Ward.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Charlotte Stout Davis of Hickory; daughter, Sandra Lee Davis Kinsella and husband Scott of Mooresville; brothers, Billy Ray Davis of Longview and Stanley Eugene Davis of Bakersville; six brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; a number of nieces and nephews; and a beloved dog, Roscoe.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, August 11, at Catawba Funerals and Cremations with Pastors Jerry McCurry and John Henry McCurry officiating. Interment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 to 3 p.m., prior to the service.
