On Saturday, Aug. 9, a customer at Quick Stop at 2404 W. Elk Ave. received a $20 counterfeit bill as change. The customer returned the bill to the store for legal change. According to the incident report from the Elizabethton Police Department, the clerk at the store did not know where the counterfeit bill had come from.
On Sunday, Aug. 10, the EPD was called back to the Quick Stop for another counterfeit $20 bill. This time, the bill was in the hands of a customer who was trying to use it to make a purchase.
