Steven Russell Markland

Steven Russell Markland, 44, of Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at his residence.
Steven was a native of Carter County and a son of Steven “Mack” and Ruth Sullivan Markland. He was preceded in death by an uncle, Mack Sullivan.
Mr. Markland was a self-employed landscaper and was of the Christian faith. He loved to fish, work in his flowers, enjoyed reading and hunting for herbs.
Survivors include his parents, Steven “Mack” and Ruth Sullivan Markland, Morehead City, N.C.; a brother, McDaniel Markland and wife Candace, Morehead City, N.C.; a very special nephew, Malachi Markland, Morehead City, N.C.; an “adopted” aunt and uncle, Wanda Barnette, Elizabethton, and Dennis Barnette (deceased); two aunts, Edythe Smith of Georgia and Carol Sullivan, Johnson City; and an uncle, Hugh Allen Sullivan and wife Faye, Johnson City. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
A graveside service to honor the life of Steven Russell Markland will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 17, in the Grindstaff Cemetery with Rev. Bryan Smith officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 1:15 p.m. Sunday to go in procession.
