Walter Leslie Deskins

Walter Leslie Deskins, 61, of Hampton, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at his residence.
A native of Bluefield, W.Va., he was a son of the late Walter Kelly and Abby Jones Deskins. He had lived in Carter County since 1986.
Les was a graduate of Concord College, Bluefield, W.Va. He was a Coal Miner and was of the Christian Faith.
Les is survived by Nancy Harrison, companion and soul mate of 22 years; two sons, Jared Deskins and Jessica, of Florida, and Ryan Deskins and Danielle, of Florida; a special friend he called his son, Travis Winters, Elizabethton, and Traci Rutledge, Elizabethton, who he called his daughter; one granddaughter, Kelly Marie Deskins, who was the light of his world; and a special granddaughter, Kayla Beth Rouse, and grandson, Dylan Rouse, both of Hampton.
Funeral services for Mr. Deskins will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, September 13, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Willie Campbell officiating. The Eulogy will be given by Melissa Chatman. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 14, in the Riffe Cemetery, Atwell, W.Va. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, prior to the funeral service.
