Mom, Margaret Sue Jones, 71, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 13, 2014.
Sue was born in Johnson City to the late Bruce Greenwell and Rose Horton on January 17, 1943. She worked in several occupations; however, her favorite position was as an LPN at Ivy Hall Nursing Home, where she resided for the past 21 months. She was a member of Jessup Baptist Church, she cherished spending time with family, looking at pictures, catching up on what everyone was doing, or just enjoying one another’s company. When by herself, she enjoyed reading, and was always ready for a cigarette and a good cup of coffee.
Sue was preceded in death by her loving husband, Horace Jones, her devoted son, George Jones, and her only brother, Bill Horton.
Sue is survived by her son and his wife, Bill and Dee Jones; George’s wife, Judy Jones; four grandchildren, Avrielle Jones, Zachary Jones, Shondar Bear and Gavin McKinney; one great-granddaughter, Kayden McKinney; two supportive sisters, Dink and Mac Horton; and many other loving family and friends.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Jones will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 20, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Bill Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday. The graveside service will follow in the Rittertown Baptist Church Cemetery in Hampton. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
