Lucille V. Taylor

Lucille V. Taylor, 89, of Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Franklin Woods Community Hospital, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Taylor was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Brownlow Sheets and Ethel Lyons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Arvy Carr, and Eugene M. Taylor; a son, Fred Carr; a brother; five sisters; a grandson, Steven Carr; two infant grandchildren; and several half brothers and half sisters.
Mrs. Taylor had worked for 10 years at Levi Strauss and Company and had also worked at Quik Cleaners. She was a member of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church and loved gardening, flowers, quilting and sewing and loved to read her Bible.
Survivors include two daughters, Anna Belle Hensley and Kenneth and Virginia Hicks and Richard, all of Elizabethton; three sons, Clarence Carr and Marie of Virginia, Clyde Carr of Johnson City and Kenneth Carr and Alice of Elizabethton; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Nancy Cole, Greensboro, N.C., and Patricia Honeycutt of Virginia; three step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; a half sister, Martha Ward, Elizabethton; and a half brother, Clarence Sheets, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Lucille V. Taylor will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 7, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Paul Crowe and Rev. Howard Ray officiating. Music will be under the direction of Benny and Lori Lowe and Barbara Smith. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 8, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons and a granddaughter, Kenneth Hensley Jr., Richard Hicks Jr., Rondal Hicks, Joseph Carr, Adam Carr and Lora Livingston. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church, Richard Hicks, Kenneth Hensley, Brandon Carr, Cheyenne Carr, Rusty Edens, Roger Livingston and Bill Rankin. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 1:15 p.m. Sunday to go in procession. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Mike Sage Ministries.
