JACKSON, S.C. — Funeral services for Gene Paul Mann, 78, of Jackson, S.C., who entered into rest March 10, 2015, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday from the Posey Funeral Chapel with Rev. Marion Britton officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Memorial Gardens with Veterans Honors.
Mr. Mann was a native of Marion, Ill., a former resident of North Augusta, having made Jackson his home for the past 17 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson where he was a member of the choir and the Barracca II Sunday School Class.
Mr. Mann was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, a member of the Boxing Club of Augusta and a former Golden Glove Contender. He retired from International Paper Corporation. During the summer months Mr. Mann attended West End Christian Church of Elizabethton, Tenn., where he served as a choir member.
Mr. Mann was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Pauline Mann, a son, Neal Mann, and a daughter, Angelia Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Thelma Brown Mann; two daughters, Cathy Mann, Augusta, and Connie Soave, Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Judith Andrea Cox, North Augusta; three step-daughters, Jennifer Anderson and Rhonda Bates, both of Augusta, and Teresa Buschbacher, North Augusta; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Barracca II Sunday School Class, Capt. John Wilson, George Hook, Billy Wier, Lu Lynn, C.J. Armstrong and Thomas Rish and William Bates IV. Active pallbearers will be Ryan Waters, Chris Waters, Mathew Posey, Mike Anderson, Dr. William Bates III and Hartmut Buschbacher. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Jackson, P.O. Box 130, Jackson, SC 29831.
