Fred McNeal

Fred McNeal, 72, of 201 Lacy Hollow Road, Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center, following a brief illness.
Mr. McNeal was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Roby and Arie Black McNeal. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo McNeal; a sister, Dorothy Adams; and two brothers, George McNeal and Noble McNeal.
Mr. McNeal retired from the Mapes Piano String Company and enjoyed fishing and working on small engines.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry McNeal and wife Renee and Michael McNeal and wife Makesha, all of Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Cheyenne, Mesha, Tonya and Brandon; five great-grandchildren, Brayden, Wyatt, Emma, Haley and Riley; two brothers, Cecil McNeal, Elizabethton, and Odell McNeal, Hickory, N.C.; and three sisters, Zora McNeal and Martha Crane, both of Elizabethton, and Bertha Payton of Kentucky. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Fred McNeal will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Hunter Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Hartley and Rev. Norman Markland officiating. Music will be under the direction of the church. The family will receive friends at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, or at the residence of his son, Jerry, at anytime. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, in the Cole Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Keith Tolley, Anthony Guinn, Dustin Guinn, Justin Colbaugh, Tori Mann and Joey Fisher. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Hunter Memorial Baptist Church, 599 Highway 91, in Elizabethton, at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Hunter Memorial Baptist Church, 599 Highway 91, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
