Evon Margaret Eischen

Evon Margaret Eischen, 76, Church Hill, died peacefully at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center on Monday, March 30, 2015, following a lengthy illness. She was born on November 9, 1938 in Mattawa, Ontario, Canada.
Evon was a lifetime, proud, Canadian citizen who moved to the states when she was nine years old. She graduated from Central Square High School in Central Square, N.Y., Class of 1956, and retired from Taylor Brands, knife manufacturer in Kingsport. Evon was a military spouse, while her husband served from June 14, 1971 – June 30, 1997, spending 24 years overseas. She received a certificate of appreciation from Wayland Baptist University and the United States Air Force. Evon was of the Presbyterian faith, though she attended St. Dominic Catholic Church.
Her favorite things were painting, flowers, playing cards, traveling and spending time with her children, grandchildren and pets. Evon was very loving, giving and caring and always thinking of others before herself.
She was preceded in death by her father, James A. Stewart, WW II B-17 Tail Gunner, retired RCMP; mother, Olive E. Tetlock Vradenburg; step-father, Harry T. Vradenburg; and brothers, Glenn Stewart, retired Canadian engineer, and Brian Stewart.
Evon is survived by her husband, Douglas Arnold Eischen; son, Stephen A. Eischen and fiancée, Deborah Harrison of Johnson City, Tenn.; three daughters, Cindy Eileen Adams, Sherri Lynn Skinner and Kristy Ann Fletcher and husband, Troy, all of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Staci Brooke Hixson and husband, Dusty of Tipp City, Ohio, Casey Douglas Fletcher of Kingsport and William Dale Fletcher of Kingsport; two sisters, Shirley Wakefield and husband, Jim of Central Square, N.Y., and Margot McDade and husband, Danny of Springfield, Nova Scotia, Canada; sister-in-law, Kathy Burns and husband, Tom of Hamilton, Ohio; nephew, Michael Overbaugh and wife, Mary Ellen with their son, Devon of Brewerton, N.Y.; niece, Penny Overbaugh Fortunato and husband, Pyare with their daughter, Mela of Brooklyn, N.Y.; nephew, Martin Stewart and wife, Britt with their daughter, Kaile and son, Ryan of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada; niece, Susan St. Amand and husband, Major General Pierre St. Amand, Canadian Air Force, stationed at Peterson AFB, Colorado Springs, Colo., their daughter, Stephanie and son, Dylon are in Canada; nephews, Shawn, Mark and Kevin McDade of Nova Scotia, Canada; nieces, Rose Mitchell and husband, Mark of Ilion, N.Y., Carolyn Davis and husband, Omar, Colleen Precourt and husband, Paul and Chris Wilcox and husband, Al; several great-nieces and nephews; very dear, close and loved family friend, Lori Ogle of Kingsport; extremely close, caring and supportive family friend, Jeff Carver; and Evon’s much loved pets, Thor, Valkerie, Cyndi Lou and Snookums.
The memorial mass will be held on Thursday, April 2, at 1 p.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Father Michael Cummins officiating.
