Reginald “Red” Horton Duffield

Reginald “Red” Horton Duffield, 82, of Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, May 8, 2015, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home, following an extended illness. He was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Jim and Helen Horton Duffield.
Mr. Duffield had worked as a young man at a local drug store and attended Brown’s Chapel AME Zion Church. He enjoyed being with other people and helping others.
Survivors include the Douglas Community, staff and residents of Ivy Hall, the Susong Family, his special friends, Darlene Haynes, Betty Horton and Mary Ethel McRath, all of Elizabethton, the Ralph Haynes Family, a special friend, Chaplain Gary Pate, Elizabethton, the Duffield Family, and the Greene Family of Chattanooga, Tenn.
A service to honor the life of Reginald “Red” Horton Duffield will be conducted at noon Saturday, May 9, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Jeannette Clark officiating and Chaplain Gary Pate providing a eulogy. Music will be under the direction of Brown’s Chapel AME Zion Church Choir. Receiving of friends will be from 11 a.m. until noon Saturday in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from the men of the Douglas Community. Honorary pallbearers will be the male staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home.
