Larry D. Beam, 62, of Elizabethton, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center. Larry was born in Banner Elk, N.C., a son of the late Roy Oliver Beam and Emma Blackburn Beam. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Beam and Ford Beam, and a sister, Jean Smith.
Mr. Beam had worked as a plumber for Norwell for many years and was of the Baptist faith. He loved watching football and old westerns.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Shirley Bennett Beam, of the home; his daughters, Sherry Shepard and husband Anthony, Chadbourn, N.C., and Melissa Ashley and husband Denis, Elizabethton; his grandchildren, Mathew Shepard, Katelyn Beam, Corey Beam and Madelyn Ashley, all of Elizabethton; his brothers, Junior Beam and wife Joyce, and Lawrence Beam, Tom Beam and wife Lori and Bobby Irick and wife Jeannette, all of Elizabethton; a sister, Linda Hawkins; six sisters-in-law; and one brother-in-law.
The family will hold a visitation service to honor the memory of Larry D. Beam from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 18, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. Friends may also visit with the family at the home of a daughter, Sherry, 1616 Burgie Street, Elizabethton, at anytime.
