Earl K. “Bozy” Hardin Sr.

Earl K. “Bozy” Hardin Sr., 77, of Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center.
He was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Smith and Loretta Dugger Hardin.
Mr. Hardin was self-employed in the upholstery business until he retired. He attended Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church.
Mr. Hardin was an Army Veteran and a dedicated fan of the Elizabethton Twins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Mary Duncan Hardin (1/3/11), and a brother, Raymond Hardin.
Survivors include his children, Sandra Hughes and Earl Hardin and wife Joan, all of Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Samantha Hardin, Jessica Hardin and Matthew Hughes; six sisters, Stella Henegar, Voretta Sally Matherly and Rozella Hardin, all of Elizabethton, Jane and husband Wayne Browder of Gray, Rebecca Shipley and Elaine Larkins, both of Kingsport; two brothers, Archie Hardin and wife Martha and Teddy Hardin and wife Sharon, all of Hampton; two sisters-in-law, Rose Hardin of Elizabethton and Faye Gandy of Pennsylvania; an uncle and aunt, Glen Hardin and wife Beulah, of Texas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services for Mr. Hardin will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 21, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Harrold Mains officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 22, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Wilson, Earl Ellis, Paul Burleson and downtown friends and ball fans. Military Honors will be by The American Legion. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Monday to go to the cemetery.
