Peggy Leona White

Peggy Leona White, 79, of Elizabethton, passed away peacefully Monday, July 13, 2015, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Michelle White, with whom she had made her home for the past five years.
Peggy was born August 7, 1935 in Watauga County, N.C., to the late Ernest and Beulah Teaster White. She had lived 60 years in Elizabethton. She was a homemaker, always devoted to her family never putting herself first. Peggy loved to bowl up until the time her health prevented it. She was a member of Shulls Mills Baptist Church, Boone, N.C., and previously had attended Oak Street Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” White, who died December 30, 2012; a grandson, Tim White, in 2000; and by two sisters and one brother.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Hill, Elizabethton; a son, daughter-in-law and their daughter, Mike, Michelle and Maggie White, of the home; six grandchildren, Crystal Hurd and husband Richard, Knoxville, Tenn., Anthony Hill, Elizabethton, David Hill, Knoxville, Tenn., Bradley Price and wife Christy, Bristol, Tenn., and Jessica Duke, Elizabethton; and five great-grandchildren, Grant White, Harrison, N.Y., Twins Bralyn and Briley Price, Bristol, Tenn., Damian Hill, Elizabethton, and Dylan Hurd, Knoxville, Tenn.
Graveside services for Peggy Leona White will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, July 17, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Chaplain Karl Gasser officiating. Interment will follow the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Michelle White, Elizabethton. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Amedisys Home Health & Hospice Care and the staff of Hermitage Health Center when she was there for all the care and love they showed.
