Sharon Lynn Hicks, 66, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 25, 2015.
She was born and had lived in Kingsport most of her life. A graduate of Sullivan High School, she had been very active in her community over the years. She started her professional career at Mason-Dixon and then moved on to Sam’s Wholesale. In the last few years she had worked at Domtar in the Human Relations Department.
Lynn gave back to her community by being President and Treasurer of the PTA at Sullivan Elementary and Middle Schools. She was recognized by the Downtown Kingsport Association by receiving the “Peggy Turner Award” for other contributions as well as Volunteer of the Year Award by the Sullivan Elementary PTA.
She attended Living Waters Free Will Baptist Church.
When Lynn was asked what was the most important thing everyone should know about her, she said, That she served her Lord and that everyone should always remember John 14:14.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kermit “Doc” and Kathleen Benton Dykes.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Charles Hicks; two daughters, Quana Roberts and husband Lester and Chama Cavin and husband Shannon; four grandchildren, Tyler Judd and wife Emily, Troy Judd, Zeb Roberts and Polly Belle Roberts; two sisters, Kathy Ann Yakely and husband Jerry and Robin Lawson and husband Glen; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 til 7 p.m. Thursday, August 27, at Scott County Funeral Home. A celebration of Lynn’s life will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Glenn Hicks officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, August 28, at Holston View Cemetery.
